sportscotland has launched the Club Support Programme (CSP), a £5 million investment from the Scottish Government that will fund paid roles within clubs across Scotland. With up to £30,000 per post per year available and applications opening on 1 May 2026, clubs need to move quickly.

What is the Club Support Programme?

The CSP will fund part-time or full-time posts within sports clubs, including coaches, administrators, club development officers, safeguarding officers, and community engagement staff. sportscotland will cover up to 90% of the cost of each post, clubs are only required to find 10% in matched funding.

The programme has four core priorities:

🟢 Making clubs stronger

🟢 Making clubs more sustainable

🟢 Making clubs safer

🟢 Making clubs more inclusive

Funded posts must build real capacity within clubs, supporting volunteers rather than replacing them and help create sustainable structures for the long term.

Who Can Apply?

The programme is primarily open to clubs affiliated to a Scottish Governing Body (SGB). Local authorities and leisure trusts may also act as a route in for clubs without a recognised SGB affiliation.

Businesses, professional clubs, and applications that simply continue existing posts without delivering new outcomes will not be considered.

Applications are submitted through your SGB or local partner via the sportscotland MySport portal, so you'll need to work through your governing body to progress your business case.

Key Dates

📅 Now — 22 May: Clubs develop business cases with SGB support

📅 1 May: MySport application portal opens

📅 22 May: Round 1 closing date

📅 Late June: Outcomes confirmed to applicants

📅 July: Payment released on signed letter

Guidance notes and templates were issued to SGBs on 10 April. The window is short and clubs that start now will be in the strongest position.

How We Can Help

Securing CSP funding starts with a compelling, well-evidenced business case and that's exactly where many clubs struggle. Club Development Solutions works with sports clubs across Scotland to build the organisational foundations that make applications like this one both possible and successful.

We support clubs to:

✅ Write a structured, evidence-led business case that meets sportscotland's assessment criteria

✅ Design the right role for your club's needs, with a clear delivery plan and realistic milestones

✅ Build the three-year cost model, funding profile, and sustainability plan required by the application

✅ Access ongoing support with monitoring, reporting, and making the most of your new post once funded

We already work with clubs including Zenkai Judo Club and Athena Glasgow and we know what it takes to build a club that funders want to invest in.

Whether you've just heard about this opportunity or you're ready to start writing, get in touch today and we'll help you move quickly.
