The Football Foundation has launched the Lionesses HERe to Play Fund, offering grants of up to £25,000 to help sports clubs create facilities that are safer, more inclusive, and more welcoming for women and girls.
With women's and girls' participation in sport continuing to grow, this fund gives clubs a real opportunity to make lasting physical improvements that support that growth at grassroots level.
About the Fund
The Lionesses HERe to Play Fund provides capital grants to help clubs upgrade or improve their facilities specifically with women and girls in mind. The maximum grant available is £25,000, covering up to 75% of total project costs. Your club will need to contribute the remaining 25%, and the minimum grant you can apply for is £1,500.
To make a strong application, clubs should clearly outline how the proposed improvements will benefit women and girls, and how those improvements will be maintained and built upon going forward.
What Can the Grant Be Used For?
The grant can only be used for a defined list of eligible items, which includes:

🚿 Shower improvements
🏟️ Changing room improvements
👶 Baby change and breastfeeding facilities
🔒 Female officials' and player privacy changing spaces
💡 External lighting and CCTV
🏠 Clubhouse improvements
🪧 Signage
🌧️ External covered spaces
