Training and Workshops for Sports Club Committees
Most people who serve on a sports club committee are volunteers: passionate about their sport, generous with their time, but rarely trained in the governance, legal, and financial responsibilities that come with running an organisation. Our workshops are designed for exactly those people.
Sessions are 2 hours, practical, and deliberately jargon-free. We work through real scenarios, leave time for questions, and make sure every attendee leaves with something they can actually use.

Workshop topics
01
What Does a Well-Governed Club Look Like?
The principles of good governance, explored through real club scenarios. This session covers how to set up the structures and processes that keep a club running well, and what tends to go wrong when they are not in place.
02
Legal Structures and Charitable Status
The main options for sports clubs compared clearly: CLGs, CICs, CBSs, SCIOs, CIOs, and CASCs. We explain the pros and cons of each, when charitable status makes sense, and what the implications are for trustees and members. No legal jargon, just clear, honest information.
03
Funding, Fundraising, and Gift Aid
How to grow your club's income through grants, fundraising, and Gift Aid. This session covers the funding landscape for community sport, how to approach funders effectively, and the basics of setting up Gift Aid, with practical steps you can take straight away.
04
Community Asset Transfers
What a Community Asset Transfer is, how the process works, and what your club needs to have in place before it can take on a lease or ownership of a facility. A practical introduction for clubs exploring long-term facility security.
05
Basic Financial Management
The essentials every treasurer and committee member needs: budgeting, bookkeeping, bank controls, and reporting to members. This session demystifies financial management for volunteers and builds the confidence to keep a club's finances accurate, transparent, and on track.
